Matthew Heenan
MSW, BASc (Hons)(Psych)

Matt is one half of Affirm Counselling and Consulting and is a professional social worker with over fifteen years experience. He has worked in government, private and community services, across a range of sectors including children, youth and families, disability, justice, family violence, and education.
Matt is accredited with the Australian Association of Social Workers, is a Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner, and a certified NeuroACT® practitioner.
Matt has experience in individual counselling, group work, case management, and assessment. At Affirm Counselling and Consulting, Matt draws on contemporary modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment therapy, systemic therapies and Positive Behaviour Support to help service users achieve their goals.
Matt offers services at Affirm Counselling and Consulting such as individual therapy, functional assessments, tech-assisted group work for young people, support groups, family work, and behaviour change for men who use violence.
In his free time, Matt can be found tending to his yard, camping and four wheel driving, playing a video game or listening to music.
Katherine Scott
MBA, Dip Comm. Serv.

Kat is the other half of Affirm Counselling and Consulting, bringing over a decade of experience across government and not-for-profit community services. Her background spans a range of roles, including direct client work, team leadership, and senior management.
She holds an MBA, is certified in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and is a certified Results Coach. Kat uses contemporary, evidence-based approaches to support meaningful change. She is an authentic and motivational professional, passionate about women’s coaching, leadership development, and performance enhancement.
At Affirm Counselling and Consulting, Kat offers services including career coaching, leadership development, small business consulting, and women’s empowerment coaching.
In her spare time, Kat can be found playing video games, gardening, swimming, and spending time with friends and family.
